feature: department of health and human services updates evidence-based program list

the office of the assistant secretary for planning and evaluation (aspe) released updates and new additions to the health and human services (hhs) teen pregnancy prevention evidence review and evidence-based programs list. the revised list of programs includes two new additions: get real!, a school-based comprehensive sexuality education program for middle school students, and prime time, a youth development program for adolescent females at high risk for teen pregnancy. to view information on the evidence review process, programs currently on the list, and a searchable database of studies reviewed, click here.

2015 healthy teen network webinar series. starting may 7, 2015 healthy teen network will kick off a monthly webinar series. the topics to be covered include changing the frames of expectant and young parents; data visualization and creating impactful graphs to convey your message; and healthy teen network’s youth 360⁰ approach. to learn more about the webinar series or register, click here.

school-based health alliance youth program. the youth program at the 2015 national school-based health care convention will take place june 16-19, 2015 in austin, tx. high school students can learn about the policies affecting school-based health centers and develop leadership and advocacy skills. to learn more about the program, click here.

hiv & aids in the united states update. the center for disease control division of hiv/aids prevention recently added and updated factsheets and slide sets. to view the updates, click here.

flash curriculum expansion. flash is a widely used comprehensive sexuality education curriculum designed to prevent teen pregnancy, stds and sexual violence. flash is available for elementary, middle school, high school and special education classrooms. the updated high school lessons were just released on march 31, 2015. to learn more, click here.

state snapshots. in october, glsen shared the findings from their 2013 national school climate survey (nscs) which examines the experiences of students who identify as lgbt. glesen has most recently released the state snapshots to review the data state-by-state. to view the data, click here.

national youth hiv & aids awareness day. national youth hiv & aids awareness day (nyhaad) april 10th is meant to educate the public about the impact of hiv and aids on young people as well as highlight the amazing work young people are doing across the country to fight the hiv & aids epidemic. to learn more about nyhaad and what others are doing to recognize the day, click here.
