nicole cheetham (she/her/hers) has over 20 years of experience working in international public health and oversees advocates’ international programs in sub-saharan africa, asia, and latin america and the caribbean. nicole provides technical assistance and training to partner organizations in support of adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health and rights program design and implementation. core areas of expertise include sexuality education curriculum development, review and teacher training, contraceptive access, community mobilization, parent-child communication, peer education, and youth-led advocacy.

nicole leads advocates’ international efforts on sexuality education, including the amaze initiative at the global level, which provides access to sexuality education through short, animated films to very young adolescents around the world. she is a main contributor to the international technical guidance on sexuality education and has worked with un agencies and ngos to conduct assessments for the education sector, provide technical assistance on curriculum development and review, and develop, pre-test, and deliver teacher training for sexuality education. nicole holds a masters of health sciences in international public health with a minor in health communications from the johns hopkins university bloomberg school of public health, serves on the editorial advisory board of the journal of american sexuality education, and is fluent in english, spanish and french.
